comments: I recently upgraded to version 9.3 of the Adobe Reader after being prompted to do so a few times. Let me first say that I find these mandatory prompts to upgrade rather annoying. I wish there was a way to configure them, but I have found nothing to that effect. I made the upgrade just fine though and for the most part I think I'm relatively satisfied with Adobe's continued attempts at making their software accessible for use with screen readers. However, I have recently come across some annoyances which must be pointed out. First off, I had to find a workaround for starting this version of Adobe Reader. A simple press of Enter when activating a .pdf file opens up Windows Media Center for some strange reason, instead of Adobe Reader. So to get around this, what I do is go into my Applications menu and arrow down to the choice that says "Open With..." The first option is Adobe Reader 9.3, so that is where I press Enter. The second annoyance I found is not just with the current version of Adobe Reader, from what I can gather. When reading my biology books, tons of extraneous characters are present and in my lab manual, I can't even get past a certain area. I don't want to stray off-topic since this is not a biology forum, but I wonder if others have encountered these problems. I asked somebody who is fully-sighted about this, and he tells me the full text of the lab manual does appear on the screen. So I guess what I'm saying is that the Adobe Reader is not my preferred reading method.
