comments: Klango is a free audio player for Windows. Like Windows Media Player, it can play formats such as wav, mp3 and wma. However, Klango Player is unique.

First, the program is self-voicing. No screen reader is needed. Klango Player uses any Sapi 5 or Sapi 4 voices installed on your computer. Sapi 5 is preferred. Klango makes Sapi5 voices speak from different speakers, depending on what section of a menu the user is in. According to the documentation, Sapi4 voices have problems speaking from different sound card speakers.

The second reason Klango is unique is that it integrates a social aspect. There is a forum where any registered user can post messages. Each user has a microblog and can send private messages to each other.

Although Klango Player is currently in Beta, the developers stated on the forum that Klango will remain free.

comments: I'd have to agree wholeheartedly with Blake on this one. This beta version of the Klango Player is really nice! The developers seem very responsive although I haven't used the program long enough yet. It is also possible to run Klango version 1.31 from within this beta. An option will appear in the Programs menu upon downloading and setting up the older version. Please note however, that the older version does not work if AVG 7.5 or 8 is installed on your system. There were a few occasions when the software crashed while I attempted to play some of the files contained in the Media menu. I think this might be due at least in part to an overloaded hard drive but I'm not sure. Other than that I absolutely love this program!
