comments: Avast is one of the best free antivirus programs out there.
It is easy to install and the only thing you have to do to get it working is just go to the program settings and uncheck the box that says enable skins for simple interface. thats all and its a great antivirus. It works great with jaws and great with NVDAA.

comments: I've tried out several antivirus programs with mixed results. But about a month or so ago a skills tutor who works with me recommended that I try out Avast so I did. I went to http://www.avast.com and downloaded the program. I had no problem with the setup process. I used SA during setup, but I'm assuming NVDA would've worked okay too. The program seemed to work just fine on its own, but neither SA nor NVDA would read anything at all: no menus, no nothing. After about 3 days I no longer got any audible messages from Avast. So I had my tutor take a look, since he uses Avast as well for his antivirus software. Upon looking at my screen he discovered that I was running an unregistered copy of Avast. So he registered it for me, since I couldn't. Now the software is working just great. I get at least one audible alert each day, and sometimes twice a day. I probably would've been stuck if he hadn't intervened like that. Avast is a great program, but based on my experience sighted assistance is needed to register it.
