comments: I was sitting at my computer the other evening too bored to even surf the Net. Now that is bored indeed. I found myself wishing I had a

really fun game to play on the computer; one that would keep my interest for a while. I decided to check out a few web sites related to games

for the visually impaired and see what might be new. One of the sites I checked out was
http://www.l-works.net
where I found the following information:

judgment Day
it is the year 2015, and the world is at war. This war has been the most catastrophic
to humanity. Two powers are fighting for control. The allies and a group of nations
calling themselves The Supreme Evil. Little is known about this group and it's motives,
but one thing is clear. This group has advanced weaponry. Over several months, the
Allies have been slowly destroyed by strange and lethal weaponry. The commander of
the Supreme Evil known as Supreme Commander Ather has quickly dispatched several
countrys in the span of a few months. In one last effort to retain any hope, the
allies have gathered all their forces in one area. A defensive station was built,
and plans were made to finally lay the Supreme evil to rest. However, this task may
prove to be harder than one thinks. and this is where you come in. Your job is to
fend off the group of The Supreme Evil's forces, as well as deal With supreme Commander
Ather.
You command the only allied defensive post left. Your job is to fend off the enemies.
Compared to the Supreme evil, your weapons are primative. However, they can be effective.
You are given a machine gun with unlimitted shells, a supply of rockets, and a small
supply of sky clearing nukes. Your crew will do there best to keep the base undamaged.
If there's no damage, they may even find time to replentish your nukes and rockets
if you're running low.
the game includes.
10 levels of play plus a boss level where you get to take on Supreme commander Ather
himself
3 levels of difficulty
a trophy system allowing you to earn awards for performing certain tasks in the game
4 unlockable bonus levels
an unlockable ending for collecting enough trophies
an unlockable ultra difficulty setting
online score support to post your scores to all bonus games and difficulty levels
and more!

My interest was piqued. I listened to an audio demo of the game and decided to preorder it since the game had not yet been released.

When I received the game, I found that it lived up to all it promised. The voice acting is pretty good, and you can skip the intro material

after you have listened to it the first time. The game is truly a challenge without being impossible to successfully play. The sounds are

quite realistic and the trophies allow you to play bonus games as the above information indicates. There is also an e-mail list devoted to

L-works games where you can find tips and tricks as well as spoilers for beating the game. Even the spoilers don't take the challenge out of

this game!

The audio demo states that you can play the game with a screen reader loaded, and in fact I have successfully played it with Window-Eyes running. The ReadMe file, however, recommends that you unload your screen reader before playing the game.

The game costs $25 and is, in my opinion, worth every penny. My boredom has definitely been cured for the forseeable future. Now I just have

to remember to spend the holidays with my wife instead of spending every waking hour fighting bad guys!

comments: As the previous review says, this is a fantastic game, very well worth the $25 you will pay for it, and I'm not just saying that because I played a part in the game (I play the technition). Anyways, My favorite thing about this game is the trophy system. As you play you unlock more and more stuff and you find yourself trying different things to figure out if you can get a trophy. I got a few without even trying or knowing what I did.
One thing I will say is that the game comes with cheet codes, and in a couple instances, you will want to use them in order to earn trophies. I won't tell you specifically what to do in order to get them because it would spoil the fun. But what I will say is that even after you unlock the trophies and learn all the bonus games, you'll find yourself coming back to try again, to see how far you can get. Each game is different so it's never the same way twice like other games I played. They were certainly good and a lot of fun, but the trophy system, along with the random nature of the game, makes this one a must-have for your game collection.

comments: I just checked out the demo version of Judgement Day this morning after having listened to a review of it several months ago, and I was quite impressed. I played it once using my computer's speakers and once with my headset, and the sounds and music are fantastic. The acting in this game is also very good. One feature I especially like is the L-works Theater, which has two options in the demo version. The first option lets you hear the game intro, while the second option plays a short but very funny clip of Liam Erven--the website owner--showing off his garage and talking about how it promotes independence. I think this game is most definitely well worth your money, and I'm going to keep watch on the site for the L-works store to be back so that I can order the full copy.
