comments: Microsoft has done it again! They have finally released an upgrade to their popular web browser, Internet Explorer. For the most part I am very satisfied with this upgrade. It resembles previous versions of Internet Explorer in many ways, but it also has some features found in Mozilla's Firefox web browser. These include a phishing filter, the ability to have multiple tabs open at a given time, and better security over all. I did note however, that this upgrade does not have an easily-accessible Favorites menu. In order to access the Favorites menu with JAWS, one must hold down either alt key and press the letter F. Then hit Escape and you will be presented with a standard menu bar, where you then navigate to the Favorites menu. Speaking of JAWS, I found two bugs in IE7 beta 2. These both occur in Forms Mode. The first bug I encountered was that when navigating through text in an edit field with the arrow keys, several characters are left out and have to be inserted manually. The second problem is that combo boxes are not read correctly by JAWS, even when doing first-letter navigation. Upon reporting these bugs to Freedom Scientific, I got back an email stating that FS is not currently able to support the betas of IE7 but that support is forthcoming. The tech support rep recommended I uninstall the beta of IE7 and go back to IE6 for the time being. I took his advice and everything is back to normal at least for now.
