comments: Most all blind computer users probably have a mental list of those encyclopedia software packages that are not accessible with speech. Perhaps you've tried one or two that work--sort of.
I have found Encyclopedia Britannica's online encyclopedia to be quite useful and easy to use. I discovered rather quickly, however, that in order to take advantage of the many features available--the complete 32-volume Britannica encyclopedia, a student encyclopedia, dictionaries, etc.--that it would be necessary to subscribe to the service. It is my opinion that this is one service that is worth the money. Rather than the $9.95 per month option, I chose to pay $59.95 per year for the service. My subscription is renewed annually without my having to do a thing. I get a monthly newsletter full of links to really interesting articles. Too bad I rarely take the time to read them.
